I am sure they do not want any more embarrassments like this. You may want the priority to be Palestine, but Iraq is a more immediate and greater threat to the US. You may disagree with that, but somebody has got to make that decision. At a minimum, I am certain that our best interests are served by our own government and not the Europeans. then swaying the world against Iraq will be a cinch B.S. The French have already said that their are no circumstances where they would support a new resolution. This is perfectly in character for them. They opposed us when Saddam invaded Iraq and they opposed the inspections (resolution 1284). Thus your statement is without factual basis. Moreover, there are a number of countries supporting us today. In the region we have: Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia all providing bases for military forces. I would also point out that the new Prime Minister of Pakistan was elected with a comfortable majority. His platform included support for the US. Regardless of all of this, this is something you can be absolutely sure of: There will not be peace in the middle east, Israel or Palestine while Saddam funds Hammas, Islamic Jihad and suicide bombers. Removing Saddam will not lead to peace there, but it is a prerequisite. Also, do yourself a favor and loose the condescending tone. Europeans like to present themselves as the sages of international wisdom and foreign relations. The problem is that it is not warranted. The failures of European foreign relations are catastrophic in their scale. WWI, WWII, more recently in the Balkans, Rwanda and the list goes on. No we are not perfect, but the European track record is horrific and does not support the attitude.
