I’m not talking about the fundamental legitimacy of the initial acquisition of territory, I’m talking about the edifice of law, rule, and regulation that keeps the Palestinian population in its place. How do you think, for example, the average upper middle class Israeli family would react to the idea that their children would henceforth have to be bussed across town to a Palestinian school, to achieve a desired demographic balance? Work outward from that start, and you’ll see how American rules would effect things. I don’t think it would work, not that it would ever get a chance.
