You confuse the issues of treason with criticizing your president

No. McDermott, like Fonda before him, was providing "aid and comfort" to the enemy. Treason.

However, flying the flag of a country that opposes the views of your own country may be considered an act of treason under certain circumstances.

Cite one United States court case -- ANY court which hasn't been overturned -- where this was the case.
