why then did the CIA encourage them to revolt and promise assistance to them?

This is the second time you've made this allegation and you couldn't back it up last time, and you can't now either. It is one thing to make a mistake, but once it has been pointed out to you and you can't back it up, if you say it again it becomes a lie.

We encouraged them to depose Saddam. There is no evidence to suggest we "promised assistance" in any way, shape or form.

I've looked and looked but can't find the link that says Bush Sr. said he would help the Kurds and Shiites in their revolt against Saddam which begs the question; why would Bush Sr. encourage the Kurds to revolt against the 4th largest military operation in the world [at the time] and expect them, a rag tag group of paramilitary, to successfully overthrow Saddam.

Can you tell me exactly what kind of asshole does that shit? I really believed he had offered aid and then reneged at the last most moment but this is even worse.......he egged them on without intending to help. And he gave birth to GW!

Inquiring minds really want to know!
