Because when the US ousts Saddam, those oil revenues will slide as the "war premium" disappears from the price of oil.. Some experts believe that may amount to some $5-10/barrel, but I think it could be more since it would effectively prompt OPEC members to cheat in order to capture as much oil revenue as possible before Iraq starts pumping back to original levels of around 3 million Barrels per day..

But obviously you don't want to acknowlege that France and Russia have MAJOR interests involved that justify their continued support for Saddam Hussein (and his continued repression of his people). The very fact that Total Fina Elf stands to triple their available reserves (equal to BILLIONS OF DOLLARS) should be enough to make even more the most adamant "no blood for oil" peacenik think twice about who's really profiting..

And it sure ain't the Iraqi people.. Because Saddam will sell them down the river in order to maintain his grip on power in that country.
