Thanks, that was very provocative. I think that the "farewell" to Huntington is warranted, and that the analysis of the position of "Framania" is pretty sound. I also agree that the Pacific right now needs the United States more as a pacifying presence, than does Europe. Nevertheless, the immediate threat in the Middle East impacts most forcibly on the West, and the resolution of it will have a lot to do with long term issues of some importance, such as the future of Atlanticization among the Anglophone allies, the political viability of the EU, and the future of the United Nations as a security body......
