I did an analysis last year on whether cisco can survive against Huiwei with costs as I know them, and I determined their costs are too high, the only thing saving them is their compensation practices which are options based.

I'm talking about Cisco as a continuing force as a hardware/software product company, of course they still can do well in services but then you have the IBM model which is somewhat low growth relative to the products side.

I don't care too much about Bush, personally I think he's gone in 04 and only then will the mkts rally. I am more concerned with this options issue, and the cost of doing business against the chinese if you have to pay real money to staff. I won't hold Cisco unless they resolve this somehow- either move their entire development organization to india (not china where designs have no IP protection) or something along those lines.
