the UN members who voted for 1441, and who now are not supporting it, never intended to support it at this point.
Only Bush and Rumsfeld pretended that 1441 was a call for war. The rest of the U.N. saw it as a call for Iraq to disarm or show that it had. Iraq is showing that it got rid of all but insignificant amounts of any weapons which were not allowed to it. There is every indication that the chemicals and bugs were broken up and buried in old army bases. The U.N. has given lots of support, it just hasn't given a blank check to legitimize illegal actions by Bush and Rumsfeld.

And what kind of a case has Bush made for war ? His mountain of evidence it being routinely disproved with every passing day.
Surely, the world is not buying it. As far as suport for the US position, even Angola or Cameroon has to be bribed for their support. Nobody wants this war except Bush and his right wing cohorts. And we are supposed to believe that Bush and his coterie know better than all the other nations put together ?
This is nothing but a land/oil grab. All under the guise of morality and doing what is right.
Do you remember Tianamen square ? How come the US condoned that ? Or maybe the economic interests were way too important. As somebody in Britain said the other day the US does not care a damn about human rights. It is a stick that they use to beat up nations that don't support them.

You talk about 12 violations of UN resolutions. Many nations flout them. Israel is an example. In addition they have wmd's too. But of course that is not a problem so long as they are on your side. How about Musharraf of Pakistan ?There was a time when Clinton would not shake the hand of this dictator, but today he has a red carpet welcome at the White House. And to think that Musharraf and his predecessors have given birth and nutured Al Qaida until the 9/11 attack. In addition he has nuclear weapons that he has threatened to use against India.

Regarding the restoring of democracy in Iraq, how much democracy has there been in Kuwait since 1991 ? Last time I checked the Sheikh whatever-his-name was still in charge.
So, this is not a war, this is going to be a slaughter and I do not think Americans will be any more safer after than before. If anything we have to worry about repercussions.
