This one I worked out already: See if it makes sense: The debt problems of the 80's affected investment in infrastructure in many countries producers of commodities. The I could send you a picture of a 45Km long line of trucks waiting in Paranagua harbor (In Panana state southern Brazil) to unload their cargo of Soya into ships, which may be costing something like USD50K a day moored there.

Investment in infrastructure take long time, and perhaps commodities will stay up for a while.

I am still digging more into it.
