Chris. I recall the North Koreans played endless games with the cease fire negotiators.
They would cut 2 inches off the legs of allied chairs so that the allies would feel shorter, which shows how well they were committed to negotiations.

Saddam is the same way. Denial, wiggling, and continuation of criminal behaviour.

You read about the assorted delays when inspectors wanted to look at certain places? Car accidents, traffic jams, where there were normally no traffic jams? Just a large enough delay so that the goods can be swept under the rug.?

Saddam is a bully at heart, and the only way to deal with him is the same way you deal with a bully in the school yard, by making it painfull to him to carry on his bully tactics.

His scientists have been told their families are hostages and they must take tape recorders into any meetings with Blix....so Saddam can see they stuck to the script during the interview. Of course, they are trapped creatures, so they dutifully take the tapes with them when they wish to attend and interview, and Blix dutifully refuses to conduct the interview as he knows it would be faked to say no WMD.

Bill

If Bush had pressed this back in Oct/Nov and made a case of it them, he'd have a lot more support.
What a screw up. What a gawdawful screw up. WHO talked Bush into going to the UN????
The turkey should be shot.

The US now looks internationally like a bully. If we don't go ahead, we look like coward. The f**king French look like the voice of reason. Tony Blair, PM of our strongest and best ally, stands to lose his job soon if this keeps up. And every British PM from then on will think of that if we ask for their aid again.

Those jerks in al Qaida and the other terrorist outfits must be having parties every night as this plays out.

I hate to say it, but Bush and his administration really screwed up. One term President.
