There are aspects like

- former english oil-colony, divide and control
- weird borders, divide and control
- neighbors, like Iran, Kuwait,Turkey, Saudi, etc, etc a lot of them
- religious and secular
- Mossadegh, Shah of Shahs or Khomeini
- and much more...

And finally a very strong concensus on incremental step for all frmr really 1800-1900
colonies to go through a stage of "participating democracy", something all democracies
have gone through and something some are stuck in.

As well as a strong consensus on the incremental steps of first regular colony, then minor and
then major dictator, divide and control, and then easily manipulated elections, no need to even go
to dangling chads for some time. (just try to follow any information on what all new democracies
have gone through, and what the future one are planning for)

UK is a good example as a colonial master cannot have a democracy covering both the
homeland and the colonies, in the same way, but there are better Jim Crow and
Gerry Mander, elections on tuesday examples closer)
