The way it is phrased does not suggest a "last touchdown" interpretation. Jews are represented as the driving force, not one among many elements, of a policy which he deems inimical to American interests. Personally, I do not even have proof that there is that kind of unanimity in the American Jewish community, which trends left. I am sure that a considerable number of Jews support the position of France and Germany, just as I know that there are plenty of Jews who despise Sharon. The idea of monolithic Jewish opinion is, in fact, laughably far from the truth. Most American Jews support Israel's right to exist, and that is about it. Otherwise, opinion runs a fairly wide gamut. Due to suicide bombs, there is greater support for hardliners than usual, just as there is in Israel itself, but most American Jews tend to reflect Labour positions......
