augie is a good guy. this is a very emotional subject, it gets to each and every one of us from time to time.

I am sure you are right.

I wonder how frusterated Bush is with this whole thing. I recall the time he had to apologize to China for the military plane landing mini-crisis. He was really ticked but had to hold it in, just to get the soldiers back home.

Too much damage has been done by the likes of Rumsfield as well...anti-American sentiment has always been beneath the surface but the lack of respect shown by Rumsfield for other countries has probably made the German/French/Chinese/Russians more stubborn in their positions...we see this happening now.
That has really made this whoel situation more difficult than it had to be. I bet they would have gotten the little extra support that was needed even if not an endorsement of the US position.
Such poor choices in selecting administration on the part of Bush. Bush is also responsible because he failed to distance himself from those comments and get Rumsfield to apologize.

It is this arrogance that has hurt the most,imho. Telling the whole world that their opinions don't matter cannot win over many supporters.
