LOL- most of my friends are in VC which is pretty much all in emerging countries now. There are no VC investments in the US, haven't been for 3 years. I am on the frontlines with this issue and I don't think many of you are. You don't like to hear the hard choices these companies have to make is the problem, even though Doerr and Chambers have told you what it means repeatedly. A classic case of wanting to have your cake and eat it too- you want the growth and innovation we had in the 90s, with an extremely expensive US-based workforce and all the feelgood effects that come with that but are not willing to pay for it. When people like me who know how to manage large R&D efforts plainly layout the options going forward, you beancounters go into denial. Classic.
