David, if people find your explanation a little too partisan, they should at least know that the market has a significant "Wag the Dog" element to it.

Of course, I think it's easy to overestimate that factor, just as it is easy to ignore it. And don't forget that the economic "management" goes both ways. The Dems will try their hardest to talk down the economy, but the GOP will try their darndest to pump money into it (hence the political calculations behind tax cuts, even in the face of deficits).

Its actually rather simple........Reps. don't know how to run an economy among other things. Why does it take you guys so long to get it?

Well, obviously that wasn't the case.

The economy's not that awful now... it's just worse than it was and it looks like it's going to get worse before it gets better, and it's a bit disconcerting.
