As for debating, did Haganah, Stern and Irgun debate when they were bombing, assasinating, and creating terror in Palestine in the late 1930s and early 1940s. I think one reason that Jews today have been able to convince themselves so easily that suicide bombers, Hamas, etc. are under Arafat's control is that these Jews remember their own history. They know that these paramilitary operations like Irgun were in fact controlled by the Zionist authority. They can't fathom that the mainstream Palestinian leadership might actually condemn such violence becasue they can't fathom that anyone has higher moral standards than Jews. They consider themselves God's Chosen People, after all. Tom
