But you're right, we do have a territorial dispute. Look at the map of Alaska.

Add up the National Parks, the National Forests, the BLM land, the Wildlife Refuges, other Federal land. 60% of the State, directly controlled from Washington. Plus the Native Land, which is effectively administered from Washington, another 12%. Sums to almost 3/4 of the State. So they tell us how many whales we can kill, and how close to salmon streams we can clear-cut, and other things that irritate gun-loving Alaskans.
