What about post menapausal or infertile women? Watch out with a suggestion like this! You know how ted likes democracy. This idea for a sort of "stratified" democracy may take hold. Perhaps we'll let only soldiers decide whether to go to war with Iraq. Only drug addicts decide the drug laws. Only murderers decide whether the death sentence is appropriate. I like it...something new & radical.

What is offensive to me is how so many men claim to know what's best for the people who will actually bear the brunt of whatever is decided. Now that takes hubris. No more hubris then the women who impose their decision on the unborn child. No more hubris then the men who pressure women in to abortions because they don't want to support the child. A fetus doesn't have an active brain; a woman does. Also there are millions of women who are pro-life. More are pro choice......you would think that would tell you something. But what might take the most hubris of all is to say that a group (men) that are almost 50% of the population should't get a say in one of the most controversial issues of the day. Not just "there wrong and the law should let the pregnant woman decide" but rather "they shouldn't get any input in to what the law should say". Most women feel that men have had more than their fair share of say. What about post menapausal or infertile women? If they can't "bear the brunt of whatever is decided" do they not get to have a say on the political issue? Do you think you know better than an infertile woman whats best for women? I know I wouldn't want women telling me if I should get circumsized or not. ted
