as,

re:You realize you and other Bushies are now treating our allies as if they are our enemies? All because of Bush's obsession with Saddam. Do you have any idea what the long-term costs of this will be?

None, since everyone "spies" on everyone else.

Trust but verify.

How much more ignorant can you possibly be? I would post that as your stupid post o' the day...but I feel you have a lot of day left, especially if you crack open the Vodka, so I will abstain until you fall over again.

LOL your one of those unilateral retards.... Or just an out and out liar.

The Myth That We're Going It Alone March 13, 2003 Secretary of State Colin Powell testified before the House appropriations subcommittee on Thursday, and smashed this attempt to redefine the term "unilateral" to describe America's stand on Iraq. Powell cited the UK, Australia, Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Spain, Montenegro, Portugal, Italy, Hungary, Poland, Denmark, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Ireland, the Netherlands, Japan and more as on our side.

Powell: "The whole world recognizes that Saddam Hussein must be disarmed. The debate we're having - the disagreement we're having - is how best to accomplish that. We have tried to accomplish it peacefully for 12 long years. Saddam Hussein is the one who is guilty." My buddies at Strategic Forecasting, sent me their latest post dealing with this issue. They're quite troubled over the tenacious myth that we're "going it alone," and that "all of Europe" opposes us. What opposition there is, stems from anti-Americanism. That's key.

This anti-American force is led by France (which Portugal pointed out just the other day wouldn't help them if they needed it) Greece, pacifist Sweden, tiny Belgium, and teensy-tiny Luxembourg. Russia is an outsider but flirts with that camp. As for our alliance, StratFor writes of the support our coalition partners give us: Hungary training Iraqi exiles, the Netherlands deploying Patriot missiles to defend Turkey, the Czechs and Slovaks sending chemical detection teams to Kuwait, etc.

Even adding all the neutral nations - Austria, Finland, Serbia, Switzerland and Norway - to the anti-US team wouldn't move public opinion in Europe against us. "But the polls, Rush!" StratFor:
"If a European is asked whether he opposes or supports the United States over Iraq, the majority will say that they are opposed. But assume that a different question was put to them: Do you prefer to live in an integrated Europe dominated by France and Germany, or would you prefer to maintain a degree of independence by aligning with the U.S. on security issues?"

There, the majority favors limiting European integration and relying on the U.S. for security - which brings us back to the key word: "security." These European leaders are siding with America because their people do not want to be under Franco-German leadership. This explains why European leaders are with us despite all these protests and polls that you see. They know who will fight for them when the brie hits the fan, and who has neither the power nor the inclination to do anything but appease.
