Russell on gold:

March 13, 2003 -- There's an old saying that has always stuck in my mind, it runs, "A man always returns to his first love."

There's an axiom in the stock market, and it's one that holds true. "An item, any item, always returns, in due time, to its 200-day moving average."

And I think that's what we're seeing today in gold.

Gold took it on the chin today, set off, I think, by the big surge in the dollar. Gold gapped down from a 345 base, and headed straight for its 200-day moving average, which stands today at 330.80.

For those who have no position in gold, this provides an opportunity to purchase some of the gold shares at the best prices in months. Gold shares that I like are GG, GLG, AEM, NEM, AU.

Remember, I said that for my subscribers, who I hope are long-term holders, I would put 10% of your assets aside in what you might call your "Gold insurance account." Half of the account might be in gold coins and the other half in gold shares." This is not a trading account. This is an account that you hold for your old age. Or it's an account that you'll leave to your kids or your spouse or your lover or your best friend -- when you die.
