What's twenty thousand years ?

And during all that time
I thought you were just a friend of mine
A humble human shield
On some scud field

There was absolutely nothing in that speech, which GWB has not said before.

The headline is misleading and inaccurate. No timetable was set. Trigger events were set, namely the appointment of a Palestinian Prime minister. Even that is not new. He said exactly the same thing last summer.

In addition, I will note, that it has not changed a single thing with regard to Iraq or our priorities. The speech no doubt was to placate one or more parties in the negotiations over Iraq. Nor does it invalidate the point that there will be no peace while Saddam supports terrorists.

I will note that we have permission to launch attacks from and fly over rights in Jordan. Perhaps this statement was to ensure Jordan’s continued cooperation, or to cement fly-over rights for cruise missles.

In any case, nothing new, nothing changed.
