"We believe the tubes were destined for the conventional rocket program," Mohamed ElBaradei told The Associated Press in an interview. "They could be used for enrichment but they need substantial modification before they could be used."

He said such a process would be expensive, time-consuming and detectable but that the Iraqis have the capabilities to alter the tubes.

The Iraqis got these tubes illegally. Why in earth would they order aluminum tubes that had to go through an extensive modification to be usable in a uranium enrichment program. Once they are modified, it would be a no brainer to declare they are for uranium enrichment. They've got documentation that shows a series of aluminum tubes being spec'ed to be used for missile design. They were unmodified. They even made changes, such as the anodizing the tubes that even make it more extensive to modify for uranium enrichment....is it technically possible...OK...is it in any way credible...No.

To believe that those tubes were intended to be used for uranium enrichment streches the imagination.
