Israel negotiated peace and gave back the Sinai to Egypt (recall the bulldozing of settlements there). Israel was a willing partner in negotiations in 2000, not the PA.

"Who has done nothing remotely aggressive to anyone in the past ten years"

Butchering his own people doesn't count for you I know, but I wanted to squeeze it in. Then there's the alleged $25,000 Saddam donates to suicide bomber families, which you don't believe he does. This is a world after 9/11, and while that event might not make any difference to you, it has affected many others in a way where they feel empowered to say the status quo is no longer good enough. So that despots who have the capability to kill millions of people with their WMDs, support terrorists, are seen now, more so than any other time in the past, as a threat that need to be dealt with. Perhaps if there had never been a 9/11, I and others might feel differently today. Perhaps if 3000 people in Monaco died excruciating deaths breathing mustard gas you'd feel differently too. Who knows.
