Like this? I tend to think it makes it easier to follow a thread of conversation if a small tagline is used to indicate what a response is about. I know that people could just select the other post number, but that gets repetative. The other main reason is that some posts contain a half dozen points and I don't always have the time or inclination to adress everything about every post (there are some in these threads who are masters at trying to tie up all your time). The tagline quote can indicate which one of the parts of the message is being responded to.

Still, I think you have a point, Perhaps I'll try to move the tagline from the initial line and replace it with more of a headline. I can put reference tags later.
