The big difference from Vietnam is that this war is probably winnable -- and quickly, too.
What we should have learned from Vietnam, but apparently didn't, is that the war is not won unless the enemy thinks it is won. The Vietnamese just didn't realize that we kicked their butts during TeT in 1968. A sidebar is that the death of a leader does not necessarily mark the end either. We won't know if we are in a 100 hour war or a hundred year war until peace comes again.
