Hey Tekboy... Had a thought today while walking around watching the peaceniks by the Washington Monument...

What if the US set up the equivalent to the Alaska "permanent fund" for the purpose of insuring distribution of Iraqi oil went, in part, directly to the Iraqi people?? Any proceeds above what is required to sustain the government, would be rebated back each year to every Iraqi family (or citizen, depending on how it's set up).

Would that not be a tremendous deterrent to a corrupt government since they would have to account for their government (and military) expenditures derived from those oil revenues directly to the people??

It would certainly work to prevent any single Iraqi "power elite" from monopolizing control over oil revenues for their own purposes.

Whadda ya think?? Pass it around to some of your "wonk" buddies, will ya??

All I ask is at least some "honorable mention", if someone picks up the ball and runs with it... :0)
