Without US help, the Malvinas could had been retaken by Britain.

The US provided satellite coverage by redirecting their orbits to cover that bit of the world. Broke the code of the Argentineans and supplied disembarkation ships. The US had to be very careful not to be too open in their help to vaoid an anti-american wave of protest that would damage their economy at a time when fro every USD billion paid in interest in the Brazilian debt was causing 70.000 americans to go jobless due to Btrazil not importing US made stuff. Things are not easy as the surface shows but we know it, don't we?

The Argentineans were against the law when used force to retake the Malvinas. That because Rio de Janeiro Treaty states that any dispute involving an Western hemisphere country, has to be decided by diplomatic means or those failing thorugh arbitration. They broke the law and were left alone and lost. That's one of the reason the US can't invade Cuba to dump Castro. Woud you think they would dare take Venezuela's oil? Nope. They wouldn't consider that.

We don't ytake arms down there to solve our problems down there. We have far better skilled diplomats :-), For a proof just wait and see when NAFTA discussions starts.

Hi Maurice,
Not a ringing endorsement for capitalism when you need to go and grab someone else's stuff to keep your system afloat... or is that ultimate capitalism ? Don't worry though I still like capitalism best. Keeps the motivation level up better than anything else.

The oil should be stolen from Saddam for the reconstituted UN and Iraq kicked upstairs for the New World Order to run as a democratic place. so you guys just don't agree on who should steal it LOL... Did the Iraqis steal it too. Pretty fuzzy logic there justifying taking it because Saddam is raping his country... Where's the war of liberation for the Iraqi people that the two stooges (Kudlow and Cramer) are always propagandizing about ?

regards off to bed...
Kastel

<<Pezz, you must have a weird idea on what stealing is. When you kick the door in and help yourself, it's theft, even if you give the oil concessions to your buddies then buy it from them. >>

LOL MQ you do have a way of putting your own spin on things don'cha? ... Tell ya what I say the average standard of living in Iraq is gonna be the highest it ever wuz as a result of this war....Do ya challenge that?

<<Don't worry about $40 barrel oil - that's no big deal for the world's economy,>>

I beg to differ .It would be a big deal especially in the world's current fragile economic condition...Oil finds it's way into the cost of everything.Big tax ...All recent recessions in America have been associated with higher oil prices.

No you don't understand American politics if you think the US wants high oil prices...No they don't nope not at all.Iraq pumps about 2M barrels per day. With their reserves they could be pumping as much as the Saudis. That IS what we want lower oil prices.Every President wants power and reelection means power ."it's the economy stupid"....
