Two Democratic presidential candidates, Senators John Edwards of North Carolina and John Kerry of Massachusetts, who have voted against the ban in the past, were absent today and did not vote.

How convenient that they were unavailable.

There is simply no logical excuse for this procedure and I have always wondered why the AMA had not abandoned the procedure, without all the confusion of abortion rights.

It isn't an abortion, it is just the delivery and execution of the child. As I recall the element umbrella that covered this activity had only the health of the mother as the reasoning for the procedure. However, when the child has exited the birth canal, with only a small percentage of the head, purposefully left within a small fraction of the mother's flesh, any threat to the mother, if it existed is gone.

It is simply reduced to a game. What happens if the head pops all the way out by mistake? Do they stop the killing? Do they wink and put it back? Then kill it?

I approve of abortion, but fail to understand how something so hideous as this "partial birth" procedure has been practiced by anyone that is a normal human being. We wonder where the Freddie Krugers of the world come from? Maybe they work in hospitals.
