The French, Russians and Germans have put themselves in the position of supporting the dictator in order to maintain their exploitative contracts.

When it comes time to negotiate contracts for the rebuilding of Iraq, the formerly oppressed wont forget who supported the oppressor.

That being said, the needs of Iraq will be tremendous. We will need to bring in support from others to occupy Iraq and the future contracts are the lure to bring in this support.

Time will mend the wounds between Iraqi's and the Russians and French. Many years will be required to negotiate many billions of dollars in contracts and the Iraqi's will certainly want the best deals through a competitive process.

The US companies will get their initial foot in the door and have the advantage. But multi billion dollar investments will not be shared just among the US & British companies. Other nations need to be drawn into the investment in order to ensure they have a bigger stake in Iraq's future.
