He doesn't act as if it were "nothing." The attempts by the Arab League (Saudi Plan) and Egypt (cease fire) also indicate that they realize that there is a lot to lose if the Palestinians continue on the path of violence. Arafat admitted that he should have accepted the Barak/Clinton offer. If violence continues, that window will close, forever.
