But those are personal character flaws that have mushroomed to extreme and create stories fit for a masterpiece. They are not systematic to the society and cannot lead to world wars in the same manner that having runners in a society does not lead to a world full of Olympic sprinters. And if the government was to contribute towards creation of a society in which reflection and better life (as oppose to more expensive life) was as valuable as technical skills and making money, then we'd see the character flaws you point out less pronounced in everyone. Now that would be real leadership.

On second thought...I suppose if we had a few world leaders who did not believe in the rule of law internally or internationally, and were willing to lie and twist the reality to grant themselves unprecedented powers, and then by chance a couple of tragic events came along to help them push their nations into war (as Goering pointed out)...then a world war would be a possibility again.

Sun (I am glad there is no more than one such character at the helm) Tzu
