Yes, it has been a well known problem ever since its start in the late 1700s.
(it almost got adopted in scandinavia in those times, for a couple of years)

That is why nobody else have adopted it, but the english and their present and former
colonies. (present, well, actually both Scotland, Wales have already done differently, but
all we europeans must still wait for North Ireland, to embrace UK as a democratic peer)
