Can the traffic in China be worse than L.A. rush hour traffic, or Chicago rush hour traffic?
LOL!!! Not unless someone poured cement right over the cars! :-)

I was always amazed that any of the cyclist (bicycles, not motorcycles) were willing to ride on the streets of Beijing. I saw many close calls, but they never really bothered the cyclists and somehow they all managed to keep riding.

Agree about the highways, very well maintained. But the city traffic is pretty insane. Not quite as bad as Mexico City or Paris, but I wouldn't want to drive there.

i personally did not... I was taken around by a driver who was quite amazing at dodging all kinds of sudden obstacles... I wanted to try it but never had the opportunity.

As for the traffic being worse... I meant that in a few years time when all those bicyclists eventually would afford minis or whatever other car they have available... That's when it will become a nightmare by the sheer number of drivers...

It is a good thing that China's rules of the road do not include throwing away the rear view mirror. THAT is rule number one of Italian driving... -g
