I do know about the time saving efforts the caterers provide, but that's been going on for eons. Why the credits all of a sudden?

My only guess would be that it must have been a direct result of the demise of the studio system and the power of the studio heads to dictate all aspects of the picture, including the credits.

I should also mention that the caterers are very important

My wife tells me that there are three people who you don't piss off on a movie production
1. Caterers (they feed you good food...or not)
2. Teamsters (they move you and everything around...or not)
3. Accountants (they pay you in a timely manner....)

My wife is a production accountant so she may be biased.
