Hey George, yes we live in interesting times. I'd love to see some of these stock lows retrace higher but I need to see some truth get told to the public first, & I'd like to see jail time and money returned from some of these recent insiders whose compensation packages & options robbed the shareholders of their equity. Clinton helped those guys a lot by getting through some laws that make it harder for shareholders to have class action suits against their companies. Sure has seemed quieter since then about hearing any success stories granted to the shareholder. Well I'll always have my memory of Digital winning that $3B suit against Intel's theft! Other concern I have is the huge amount of shares many companies printed during the bull with all the stock splits, options etc. I noticed what you're talking about on the lows but I've also seen a lot of reverse stock splits tried to get the shares back into marginable territory that haven't helped - but rather seemed to have re-created great shorting opportunities and therefore more pain for the shareholders. And Japan's market just made new 20 year lows. I think we may go that way as many who "were once bitten, will be twice shy" for some time. Plus people lost a lot of dough and would be dying to sell & stay out if the prices come back up. I have more confidence in FDIC insured CD's and the occasional real estate bargains that pop up (probably liquidated to raise cash as their portfolios havn't come back and layoffs continue). All this should sound like "bottoming" talk, but I don't see any fundamental support. I've got some stocks I'd love to see come back of course - and I'd sell 'em in a heartbeat!

I agree re:Biotech & feel it is one of the only current areas with REAL mania potential. I haven't done much homework in the area lately and need to get some research done. I've bought & held some a ways back that weren't doing a whole lot last time I looked. My recent focus has been researching & buying a piece of land I found that I believe has all three "L's". I think everyone assumed it was too expensive & didn't inquire. I'm happy with it and am thinking of ways to generate a revenue stream from rent/lease vs stock market. I'm still not feeling the general public hates stocks permanently enough to make me like them -g-

Now Jitterbug Perfume I really liked! It's been a while since I've read it but I thought it was a hoot. I still love the cast in Skinny Legs and All though -g-. My wife has read Cowgirls, & I may get around to it. I did see the strange movie they made out of it though, so I know something about her talent -g-.

good to hear from you and let's keep on discussing ideas,
I don't think anyone would mind if we take the DEC board off-topic a bit!

Tom

You still around George? A belated happy holidays to you
(and all who bother to check this dusty thread - cough, cough).

Any beat up biotech that you like these days? I think this will
be a huge retrace year for the biotechs, but I can wait another
year...

best,
Tom
