But no one needs to invade France, the latvians are going to resist on their own - #reply-18702823 -g- That's the beauty of our i-will-not-kneel impulse, it is all-purpose .... i'm a british columbian, so i get pretty chafed at stuff coming out of the feds in Ottawa at times ... i'm a rural british columbian involved in land use issues, so get pretty chafed sometimes at stuff coming out of the provincial jefes in Victoria ..... right now a few of us are fighting an arbitrary decision of some pipsqueak director of an obscure regional district .... against authority, in each case .... there's a song from the sixties or so, with the line 'I fight authority, and you know I always will' All quite self-balancing - the wannabe hammer rears its ugly head, and though it may take some time the nails will batter it down in the end, guaranteed ..... the virtues of constructive posing as naildom could definitely be taught better in certain national capitals Bush has failed to rally nails together, he comes across as more of a hammer right now, not the problem-solver, but the problem .... if and when a true leader shows himself capable of inspiring my fellow nails, i will favour an invasion of Iraq, by ten democracies minimum .... until then, as they say, 'Regime Change Begins At Home' Daniel Barenboim gets mentioned above, i did a thread search, he had comments on the situation, how about that ... i know him not as conductor, but as pianist, got a disc here of him playing Schumann, Kinderszenen, with the Träumerei piece in it, very nice, takes you away for sure .... i find quite interesting the reaction of people when celebrities make comments out of their field of endeavour, folks seem to think it so important, i don't understand why Carl, you have made a lot of sense here .. to such degree as i've been able to follow the thread it was by having you and Steven and a couple of others peoplemarked, caught a few responses, sometimes read an hundred posts in a row .... you have caught flak on chippy stuff, where people didn't like what you had to say and dissolved into rant, yet you turned out far more often right than wrong .... so you shouldn't think no one notices this stuff ... cheers
