Actually the roads are perfect, insuring a train system :) As far as high gas prices in Europe... the original point wasn't WHY, but simply they live with it... so can the US if they have to... higher taxes decades ago ala John Anderson would have been interesting.

Actually the speed limit on I15 is 75 mph on most stretches, but nobody goes that slow if they can go faster.
LA is not ready for high gas prices. People think its their birth right to have 3000-5000 cc engines in their cars, drive 50-70 miles a day and have gas two times cheaper than Coca-Cola.
