It's more of an issue of what Iraq will do, then the US. I assume Iraq has figured out that open desert warfare isn't a good idea. Tactically, the best option is to make sure it's as much urban warfare as possible. Tell the troops to change into their civies and shoot from windows and doorways. The US then assign Britain the task of peacekeeping operations in Badhdad and US troops stay in the open desert and move the bulk of the forces on to Iran. Presumably, Bush will make a few TV appearances explaning Iranian atrocities on their own people.
