<I remember this time last year the golf courses were opened.
I think they opened March 1st.
The year before it was March 15th.>

Clappy, I was out xcountry skiing on our golf course with Lucille(family black Lab) yesterday. I had the same thought you did...we were on the course with temporary greens at this time last year. Cutting through by the maintenance barn, the Superintendant was out front - he said we would be lucky to get on by the end of April. He did say that this type of winter is great for courses - everything is insulated by the snowpack.

Altair18 and I are entering a long drive contest in Boston at this new golf store - you hit into a screen and they somehow measure the impact of the ball....pretty lame, but if you win, you get $500 in merchandize. They are peddling the New Big Bertha and the long drive gig is a promotional. Anyway, that's what we've been reduced to. It's great having A18 home for a week...we are going to hit this driving range that has heated booths today.

Also, I think my lawn and yard is a mess underneath all the snow - I don't think I finished everything before the snows started <g>. At least the leaves won't blow around!

Wizards, or windbags?

Rumors of war send stock-market prognosticators into battle mode. Some cut the fog, some create more. How they come up with the intelligence you're meant to tap.
