If you are interested, take a look at the EIA website and you can gain a better understanding of our consumption vs the world. The DOE EIA has a wealth of information so you can be informed. The IEA is another resource. We use more because we produce more. We also consume more because we have more energy consuming devices than anyone else. This does not mean that we wont have to learn to do more with less. The economic development and modernization of the world will place serious demands on scarce resources.
