We will stay in the region 20 to 25 years.

Turkish television reported last week that U.S. Ambassador Robert Pearson told some members of the Turkish Parliament that the United States would remain in Iraq for two decades or more after the war.

The daily Sabah on Thursday quoted Pearson as saying: "Whether Saddam goes or stays, whether the U.N. gives the U.S. a decision or not, there will be a military action. ... There is no culture of democracy in this region. Our plans to reorganize the region cannot be accomplished in five years. It cannot be accomplished in 10 years. We will stay in the region 20 to 25 years."

Oh? Why aren't Americans being told these things?

Our interests converge with Israel. Does that mean that Israel is controlling our foreign policy? What a joke. Are we not supposed to act because Israel will benefit as well as us? I don't care if Israel benefits or not. Bush wants the oil & to create a Democracy in the zone. Massively in US interests.
