OT/Joan, I had a chance to interview for a job at that refinery. In essence I said no I wasn't even interested in an interview. No regrets, certainly, and it didn't have anything to do with location.

I suspect there are quite a few refineries still operating in areas where crude was once heavily produced. To keep some of them going they have slowly built pipelines, to feed these things with crude.

The pipeline networks in this country, crude plus various products, are rather extensive. I'm watching WG, hoping it hits 5 again.

Transportation costs, whether it be crude or refined product, are not insignificant. No secret I work in AK. The cost of crude transport from the Northslope, to the lower 48 west coast, is I suspect a couple of bucks a barrel or maybe even more, in total. When crude gets below 15 this is fair percentage.
