Everything I have read suggests over 500k is an exaggeration; anything over a million is a gross exaggeration. I went back a bit and looked at Your posts and Joe's and the links about this subject. It seems that the Iran Iraq war alone is at least 300k, could be more then 500k dead. You yourself said it exceeded 300k on both sides. No I didn't or if I did, I misspoke. If the death toll exceeds 300k, its both Iraqi and Iranian death tolls, and not just the Iranian side. I am sure the death toll for both sides is much less than 500k. Since 1980, I think the total of all deaths....kurds, Iranians and Iraqis [excluding those Iraqi soldiers killed in the Iraqi Iranian war]is less than 500k. Can larger totals be shown.......most definitely, but usually they result from Saddam's hyping. I figure at least 50k dead maybe 100k from the Gulf war. About the Iraqi civilian deaths since the Gulf war you say "The UN came up with 500k and I bet Saddam inflated all his numbers to a million....its what he does best." The UN came up with 500k both sides for the Iraqi Iranian war.....civilians, soldiers, etc. Ok so take another 500k. Then you have to add some for the people Saddam killed in Iraq before the Gulf war. Add it all up and you get a pretty wide ranger but somewhere between maybe 500k on the low end and a little bit above a million on the high end. So the "millions" the DRay said would be an exaggeration, but if the highest possible count is true then it isn't a huge one. Even if I take the low figure and then cut it in half and get 250k millions (or in other words at least 2 million) doesn't seem to be as big of exaggeration as saying Milosevic posed a big threat to all of Europe. You're playing with the numbers. The total is well below 1,000,000. From all that I've seen, I believe its below 500k. Look at link I provided for the major genocides for the 20th century....they show Saddam with 100k. They show Milosevic with close to 500k deaths on his hands. Saddam is a joke.......a joke made larger than life by Karl Rove and Rummy and Cheney. ted
