Peter,
FWIW, I agree.

Events like this war are portrayed by some as "isolated" in some way. What does it matter if a "few" Iraqis (or even a few Americans!) die if we give them "freedom". Our govt is acting as though heaven is on the other side of the curtain, and whatever fallout happens, happens, our actions have nothing to do with it (unless, of course, it will deemed "good", then I'm sure we [or rather, those ordering this action] take full credit). What if this pushes a fragile EU over the edge in a crumbling mess? Not our doing if these frogs and krauts can't keep their act together. What if the Turks and the Kurds get into a war in a couple of years? Not our doing if these guys can't rationally decide how to live together. What if there is a coup in Pakistan, if Musharrif is overthrown by Islamic fundamentalists, or if he has to crack down hard on the country to maintain order? Not our doing; are we responsible for the acts of the whole world just because we are trying to spread democracy and freedom by force, getting rid of a guy who everyone agrees is a bad apple? We've had enough of these wimps who see a monster around every corner! Away with them!

No bad consequences can be our doing. After all, we only do the right thing, we have pure intentions, if the world can't see that and act accordingly, so much the worse for it.

If business continues to be paralyzed as it has been, the ECMs will obviously continue to be hit hard. They are by their very nature cyclical. I'm staying out for now, even with this obviously powerful rally.

I suppose I should change my moniker to Cassandra.
