This sort of hypocrisy has been prevalent in US politics for decades, through all administrations. We need to decide what role we should play on the world stage. Not just show up once in a while to stir things up when we want to protect our interests or settle family vendettas, while waving the Humanitarian flag.

Like many Americans, I believe that Saddam must go, that he has these weapons, and that he'd use them on others as in the past. But, like many others, I think that playing the bully and proceeding without allied concert sets a dangerous long term path. Bush seems determined to build up further resentment towards the US, after having squandered an opportunity when much of the world sympathized with us.
