The west seems to be the toughest bracket by far. Arizona, Kansas, Duke, Illinois.
I agree with Texas getting an easy ride. Pittsburgh would have been a better no 1. OTOH, so did Florida who could go far and meet Texas to go to the final 4.
The mystery team to me was Xavier? A 3 seed and they lost their tournament to Temple.

As for teams that didn't deserve to go...Alabama comes to mind first. No way I'd have given them a bid. Auburn wasn't bad but I'd probably given it to someone else. Boston college and Seton Hall didn't go and didn't deserve it.

Texas Tech might have been good enough, beating Texas and losing in OT to Oklahoma but a 6-10 record in conference didn't help.

I think UAB should have got a bid based on late season.
Maybe in place of Cincinnati.
