You're trying desperately to split hairs and find excuses for Bush, but we're on his watch now. First, I certainly can argue with 7 years of peace and prosperity. It led to an amazing complacency by both the administration and the people of this country, for which we have to suffer now. If the Clinton admin had been on the ball and paying attention to where we were going not where we were, that same peace and prosperity could very well have lasted much longer. Second, I most certainly am not trying to find excuses for W now. Myself and many I spoke with were fully aware prior to the current admin getting in how nasty things would be for them, and had mentioned how the bust of the Clinton era would fall upon the next admin be it either Gore or Bush. This was mentioned PRIOR to the election. The fact that you could not see the train coming until it smacked you in the mouth does not mean that everyone was so naive. To give you a little credit, the problems with terrorism I will agree were not entirely Clinton's FAULT, but also in the dozen or so years preceding in which we continued to turn a blind eye to it. However, Clinton's answer to a mounting problem was as always, do nothing, because everything was great AT THAT MOMENT...why bother with the future. "Clinton had North Korea and Saddam nicely bottled up for 8 years." Shouldn't even deserve a comment, but for fun, if everything was so nice and neat, why was there a resolution put forth by Daschle to go into Iraq in '98, along with many hawkish comments from the spineless Clinton if everything was so tidy?..And what did we do when NK basically told us to Go F ourselves?
