I agree that the expectation is a victory from the military stand point. But at best, this opens up a pandora's box. Where exactly this will take the country (and the world) and what sort of risks and at what costs will this bring no one knows. History in the Middle East tells you to also expect nothing but further attacks, destruction and more insanity of the kind between the Israelis and Palestinians.

The market reaction sure is telling me that all that is irrelevant and without consequence, because for one, it is not even dreaming of attacks inside the US, let alone discounting it. This sounds arrogant to me because it gives no consideration to what I just mentioned.

and i disagree with you....saddam is not insane, but he is from what i have read a narcissist of the type that has little or no regard for the lives of others.

He is not insane you say ?

Hmmm.. well... I wonder what does "insane" means for you... but in reading your questions such as:

he is ruthless, no doubt, but he needs his inner circle and a willing cadre of generals to sacrifice themselves for what??? his victory?

no. he's going to lose militarily, the question is how many can he take down with him...and whoever goes down with him, will have to do it willingly.

The above can only be answered by saying that the acts that will follow are the acts of an insane individual... an insane narcicist if you will.

according to this definition, I would say he IS insane....

Analysis: Hussein insane? No, say experts
But Iraqi dictator is viewed as being sadistic,
paranoid and ruthless

[perhaps i do have a gap in my understanding of the word insane]

by the same token... I truly do not understand who is buying this market (not that I am arguing, I just do not understand it)... more like short covering and when that is completed.... what ?
