===> "* Permanent weapons inspectors
* Permanent UN peacekeepers
* Permanent no-fly zone to encompass all of Iraq <===

Too expensive. Without the costly American military might, Iraq would continue to ignore any UN mandates.

<< Iraq didn't produce anything while the last weapons inspectors were in his country. >>

The first weapons inspection was a total failure. If Saddam was not developing a chemical and biological weapons program, then he could have very easily gotten the sanctions removed. One has to ask the question: Why was Iraq not willing to give up it's weapons programs for the lifting of sanctions against it?

<< there is absolutely no need for this war, >>

Iraq's brutality against the Kuwaitis is enough reason to rid the world of Saddam's regime. There are still about 600 Kuwaitis missing, and presumed tortured and murdered by Saddam. He has been adjudged to be guilty, by the Barry World Court, and his punishment is a 12,000 pound bomb up the ass.

<< ... a war that will be waged upon a population of 23 million of which 42 percent are children under the age of 15. >>

We are going to bring freedom and democracy to a lot of children. Doesn't that make you feel good at all? Do you want these children to live in a repressive, brutal country? I see children laughing and playing, instead of watching their relatives being tortured by Saddam.

Hey PT you dropped *containment------it's an essential part of the equation that the French wanted, remember
Message 18712877
Are you aware that all the French want is:

* permanent weapons insepctors
* permanent UN peacekeepers
* permanent no-fly zone over all of Iraq
* containment--Saddam didn't produce anything while the previous inspectors were there, he's not producing anything now, why would he in the future under the above conditions?
The French alternative is far better than engaging in a war that will rival the number of deaths that Saddam himself has committed, and making America an agressive nation much like Iraq was when it invaded Kuwait.

Here's a historical and current briefing about that:
siliconinvestor.com

I'm sure that you would put up on your header the fine work of Mr.Blix and his 173 page report to if only prove that there WOULD be PERMENANT inspectors needed since after 12 years they still had to "produced an internal working document covering about 100 unresolved disarmament issues,
fully referenced to the database, including entries which need to be confidential"
un.org

Only 48 more hours to hit the streets and March for Saddam,
commrades.
