re: Beta, display stretches (right) beyond screen at 800x600 SI has done created something unique amongst message boards in cyberspace and I consider it to be a serious shortcoming of the beta site as its currently configured. I happen to nomally work at 800x600 normal font on (2) 19" and a 20"monitor on two systems and that's the setting I use for message boards. While every person has a preference for resolution 800x600 normal font is a pretty common setting especially for those of us with eyes 50+ in age. On the following three message boards on each of my displays, working at 800x600 the composition of the home page, subject pages, and messages (with or without frames) is perfectly centered on the screen, and all text displayed on those pages fits on the screen. * Silicon Investor * Investors Hub * The Motley Fool Each of these sites also works fine at 1024x768 or higher (perfect centering, all text fits, etc.) and the Silicon Investor Beta is fine with 1024x768. However, at 800x600 with normal font the Silicon Investor Beta the text of many pages does not all fit on the page (horizontally) nor is the page centered on the screen. On Subject Marks: * Left margin fine with ¼" whitespace - but the letters "ove" of Remove are off the right edge of the screen. * If one adjusts the horizontal slider to center the page and showe all characters in the word "remove," the first letter of The subject is off the screen to the left. Messages with border. * Left edge looks about like regular SI but right border is off screen * New Subjects (top right) loses "ects" and displays as New Subj * Post in "Hide Original Post" is off right edge of screen * The complete border for the message can be displayed by nudging the horizontal slider but when the message is centered you then lose text below the message off the left edge of the screen (eg. 1st 2 digits of post # if those are displayed And so it goes with other pages. - Eric -
